Visa Extra Rewards

If you have a Visa credit card, you might be eligible for the Visa Extra Rewards program. This program is presented to people who already have a Visa card that doesn’t have a reward. Check and see if your card is allowed to join.

The Extra Rewards

This program’s benefits can range immensely depending on what your issuer allows. The annual fee can be anywhere from zero to one hundred dollars. Most banks will only give you one point per dollar. One positive thing is that they have a very big selection of gifts and prizes. You can view their prize catalog. Most items in the catalog will cost a lot of points. For instance a Best Buy fifty-dollar gift card takes 22,500 points. They expire thirty-six months after you accumulate them. If this is the case you most likely won’t break even with the annual fee unless you are a big spender and diligently pay off your bill every month to avoid accruing interest.

Your best bet is to check with their website first, and see what kind of terms and conditions you are signing up for. If it doesn’t sound favorable, you should just apply for a new credit card entirely, if you really want a decent rewards card. The reason for this is that most newer cards will give you an average interest rate, and a point system where they don’t expire and you don’t need to rake in thousands of points before you can get a gift.

My personal recommendation is to just get a better card, especially these days with all the credit card companies competing for your business. Pretty much the only cards without rewards are bank credit cards, and you could get a much better interest rate and not to mention more bang for your buck with one of the real reward cards.
