Old Navy Credit Card

Review

The Old Navy credit card is almost the same as the GapCard. You can use this card for Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and piperlime.com. These four stores are linked online and you can combine all items at checkout for extra convenience. If you spend $100 or more online, you can get free shipping if you type in the special password, so having the stores combined can help you reach that price range.

This card also offers you a 5% cash back via certificates good only in these stores, and if you have the visa, you will get 1% cash back everywhere else you use it. Something different from the GapCard is that if you use your email to sign up at Old Navy for updates, you will get a 500 point bonus. In addition, you will receive periodic special offers in the mail and early notifications of sales events.

You can only get up to $120 worth of certificates in one billing period, but any points over that will be applied to one of the next billing periods. Your points will expire 24 months after they were earned. Your certificates are only usable toward purchases with your card. Up to five certificates may be used on one transaction, and the items cannot be part of a promotion, however sale and clearance items are okay. You cannot get cash back from your certificates if your total it less than it’s value, so you will have to make sure your purchase totals are more than your certificates to get the complete value.

This is a pretty good card, considering that 5% cash back is the highest payout on a rewards program you can get, even though it is in certificates. If you get this card, be cautious of the interest rate, since it is very high, you should pay this one off every month.
