There are three Marriott rewards credit cards, two are for consumers and one is for businesses. This card is the most basic of the three, it offers you the least amount of bonus points, but you don’t need as good as a credit rating to be approved.
For each night you spend at one of their hotels you will receive bonus points depending on the category of the hotel. Hotel Categories vary from one to eight with one being the lowest. The amount of bonus points you receive for a level one stay is seven thousand five hundred. At level two you will earn ten thousand bonus points and every category higher raises in five thousand point increments.
You may redeem your points online or by calling 1-800-MARRIOTT. Call 800-952-2027 to make your hotel reservations. The amount of points needed to cover the costs of a stay varies widely by category, time during the year you wish to stay, and the duration of your stay. You will need to make your reservation at least two days ahead.
If you have an excellent credit rating you should apply for the Marriott Rewards Premier card. This one will give you five dollars for every dollar purchased at Marriott affiliated hotels and two points per dollar on car rentals, airline tickets, and restaurant expenditures. This is almost double the points over the regular card.
Now should you apply for this card? That really depends on how often you travel and like staying at Marriott hotels. This is a very good hotel reward credit card and the thirty dollar annual fee can be easily covered by the redemption's. However if you don’t travel that often, let’s say less than six times a year, then you can find a more suitable card, perhaps one with more rewards or varying options.
