My wife uses the Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards Visa and she really enjoys it, and I enjoy the gas benefits. Basically you get the most return for your money when you buy the Kroger family brand of products, 3 pts per dollar. You will also receive 2 pts per dollar on any purchase in the Kroger stores, and finally if you shop anywhere else and use this card you can earn 1 pt per dollar. In my wife’s opinion, Kroger typically has higher standard prices than other grocery stores, but the good part about this credit card, is that you can shop at Kroger for the good sales, and get the necessities at another grocery and still earn pts with the Kroger Visa.

One nice feature for this card; is it also acts as your Kroger plus card. This way you don’t need to carry around both the plus and credit card. You also earn a gas discount at Kroger gas stations and Shell. When you pay for your gas at a Kroger or Shell, you can earn an extra 5 cents off per gallon automatically. You can earn up to $1.00 off per gallon, but you’d have to spend a ton of money each month to get the discount up that high. My wife usually gets about a 35¢ off discount. Any unspent discount is held over one month, but then they expire.

Another feature of this Visa is that every time you reach a savings of 1000 pts, you will get a $5 gift certificate that can be redeemed at Kroger, however these certificates are sent out every three months. It looks like a paper check and you have to sign it before the cashier will accept it.

This credit card is pretty nice if you have plenty of shopping to do for a family. Also, once you have the credit card, you start receiving special coupons for Kroger in the mail based on what you buy most frequently. This card is useful not only because it is easy to acquire rewards, but also because wherever credit cards are accepted, they accept Visa. I’ve had lots of trouble getting caught with no cash and only an American Express, so just the fact that it is a Visa is a bonus.
