Review
The best aspect of the Chevron Visa card is that it automatically deducts your gas purchases made at Chevron and Texaco stations from your statement if you have enough fuel credits to cover the purchase. They are deducted from the next billing cycle from when they are earned. Most cards make you wait a few months before you receive your rewards, this is one of the fastest.
How Fuel Credits are Calculated:
For example, let's say you buy twenty gallons of gas in one month. You will receive a $2.00 credit on your next billing statement towards gas purchases.
Restrictions
Fuel credits expire six months after they are earned if not used. You can only accumulate $300 worth of fuel credits in a calender year. If you are more than two months behind on your payments you will not accumulate anymore fuel credits until you rectify your account. You can carry a balance, but you must make the minimum payment every statement.
This card is a bit lacking in it's rewards. You will have to be a dedicated consumer of either Chevron or Texaco gas stations to see any benefit. I don't recommend this card for a couple reasons; the interest rate of 23.99% is rather high, and you can find a better gas reward credit card that offers more flexible rewards.
